Course delivery is a combination of theory and practical sessions. In your first two years, you will gain solid knowledge and understanding of mainstream civil engineering. You’ll also develop your reflective skills and professional development planning through the ‘Professional Skills’ module and your personal development log.
In later years, you move on to modern topics such as innovative construction materials as well as advanced subjects including water infrastructure engineering and risk and financial management. You will work on your individual research project in your third year and your group design project in your MEng final year.
Our civil engineering degrees are delivered by a diverse team of academic staff. This means you’ll be learning from a teaching team with both scientific knowledge and industrial experience. There will also be guest lectures from our industry partners and civil engineering site visits.
Study will combine lectures, tutorials and seminars, laboratory work, computer modelling, field work, self-study, research reports and project work.
