Program Description

On our BA (Hons) Criminology degree, you’ll consider crime, victimisation and criminal justice processes from a range of multidisciplinary academic perspectives, such as sociology, psychology, politics and the law. The degree will give you the opportunity to challenge your existing opinions and attempt to evaluate contrasting evidence around the causes of crime, think critically about the effectiveness of punishment and craft arguments about the representation of crime and victimization.

Foundation year entry requirements:

  • At least IELTS 5.5 overall including 5.5 in each band/component.

Other accepted qualifications:

  • International Advanced Levels (A Levels)

Alternative English language requirements:

  • Our preferred tests are IELTS, TOEFL iBT (80 overall and a minimum of 17 in Writing and Listening, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking) and Pearson PTE ( 57 overall and a minimum of 51 in all components), so we recommend you take one of these if possible. We also recognise the following qualifications/tests:
  1. Trinity College: Integrated Skills in English (ISE)
  2. LanguageCert International ESOL SELT tests
  3. International English Language Competency Assessment (IELCA)

Important Information:

  • If you don't meet our English language requirements, we offer a range of courses which could help you achieve the level required for entry. We also provide our own English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT) in the UK and overseas.
