Program Description

Our BEng Computer Engineering offers the chance to create applications for robots, embedded and real-time systems, and other innovative information and communications technology. You'll learn about theoretical programming and gain practical experience in developing applications for computing platforms and hardware.

This course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology on behalf of the Engineering Council. Popular careers for graduates from this course include professional roles in computing, engineering and related specialist fields. You could also pursue postgraduate study.

Other accepted qualifications:

  • A-level: 32 Points from Mathematics and a physical science or a numerate subject.
  • BTEC National: Extended Diploma in Engineering (required: Calculus to Solve Engineering Problems (Unit 7) and Further Engineering Mathematics (Unit 8), both at Merit) or related subject/units.
  • A-level and BTEC National:
  1. Diploma/Extended Certificate in Engineering and 32 Points from A-level Mathematics if Units 7 and/or 8 are not included.
  2. Diploma/Extended Certificate in Computing, Information Technology or Applied Science and 32 Points from A-level Mathematics (or Level 3 equivalent).
  • Alternative qualifications at Level 3, such as OCR Cambridge Technicals, AQA Tech-level, the International Baccalaureate and Access to Engineering
  • Appropriate qualifications such as an HNC, HND or Foundation Degree, with which you may be able to enter this degree in Year 2.

Alternative English language requirements:

  • Apolytirion with grade 17 in English.
  • University of Greenwich English Language Test (OIETC): Overall grade B2+ with B2 in each skill.

Important Information:

  • If your English language qualification is below the standard requirements listed above, you may be eligible for our online pre-sessional English (PSE) programme.
  • If you do not currently hold an IELTS and think you might need a pre-sessional English programme to reach the required level, you can also take the University's English Language Test (UOGELT). If you do not achieve the required score for direct entry, you will be eligible to study our online pre-sessional course using your UOGELT result.
