Program Description

This award winning BA gives you the tools, opportunities and inspiration to explore the world we live in now. With the help and guidance of our committed and expert staff, you will investigate the communication of ideas, opinion, comment, reportage, analysis and meaning through the medium of photography.

Middlesex is home to some of the best photographic facilities and staff in the UK to help you realise your creative vision and develop your own personal approach and to think creatively.

Join a long list of decorated alumni, who are making an impact in the creative industries. Many Middlesex photography graduates have received industry recognition for their work. In recent years, this has included several D&AD New Blood Yellow Pencil Winners, six finalists for the National Portrait Gallery Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait, winners in all three ‘5 Under 30’ competitions run by the Daniel Blau Gallery and a national advertising commission from one of the world’s leading advertising agencies.

The following course-related costs are included in the fees:

- A free electronic core textbook for every module
- All printing and copying required for your study.
- Self-service laptops available for loan for a maximum of 24 hours
- Audio-visual equipment available for loan, including digital stills cameras, digital video recorders, digital audio recorders.
- Credit is given for specialist printing in the Digital Darkroom up to certain amount for each year of the programme.
- Film and paper is provided for certain projects in first year.
- Entrance fees to some exhibitions

The following course-related costs are not included in the fees, and you may be required to purchase these to complete the course. The costs are approximate and may change due to changes in pricing at the retailer:

More information:

  • Applications from mature candidates without formal qualifications are welcomed, provided they can demonstrate appropriate levels of relevant ability and experience. If you have achieved a qualification such as a foundation degree or HND, or have gained credit at another university, you may be able to enter a Middlesex University course in year two or three.
  • If you have relevant qualifications or work experience, academic credit may be awarded towards your Middlesex University programme of study.

Interviews and portfolios information:

  • Entry onto this course requires an online Zoom interview. The interview will start with a group welcome talk followed by 1-1 interviews.
  • If you are unable to attend the interview, you can submit a portfolio instead.
  • The interview itself will take around 15 minutes but you should allow one hour for the whole interview process as you will be offered the opportunity to view the facilities and meet appropriate staff and students. We use the interview to find out more about you, to better understand your aspirations and interests, and to explore why you want to study with us.
