    Program Description

    During the Master in Sociology and Social Research (MSc) program at Utrecht University, students will learn how to develop explanations for relevant social phenomena using state-of-the-art theory from Sociology, but also other disciplines such as Economics and Psychology. They will test these explanations using quantitative empirical research methods.

    Students will learn to operate as highly-qualified social science researchers. They will have the opportunity to make choices that fit their goals, by choosing to do an internship and by selecting the topic of their thesis from a list of major sociological research questions, provided by excellent researchers and lecturers.

    The Master in Sociology and Social Research (MSc) is ranked the highest scoring research master in Sociology (Keuzegids Masters 2021).
