Objective of the Program

The master in Educational Psychology (MSc) aims at providing students with evidence-based knowledge and skills concerning:

  • The learning theory approaches and their educational implications
  • The wide spectrum of learning difficulties across the life span, in order to be able to identify the cases that require intervention in the school context and elsewhere.
  • The domain-specific psychological development from infancy to adulthood, with specific emphasis on its cognitive, emotional and social dimensions and their impact on the learning processes
  • The main developmental disorders, as they are manifested in childhood, adolescence and adulthood, as well as their direct impact on learning and behaviour.
  • The awareness of the role that cultural and social parameters play in the educator’s interaction with students and parents.
  • Developmental patterns during the above evolutionary phases

Learning Outcomes

The graduates of master in Educational Psychology (MSc) will:

  • Acquire an in-depth understanding of the cognitive processes that underlie learning and thinking in both formal and informal education and their typical as well as atypical development.
  • Acquire strategies that can enhance their professional practice in schools and universities, early childhood programmes, and government agencies.
  • Develop scientific research skills (by participating in ongoing research projects and by conducting small-scale research projects in the context of the Independent Research Study, and/or by conducting an empirical study in the context of a Masters Thesis) that can be applied to advance scientific knowledge in Educational Psychology and address practical issues in diverse education and community settings.
