Program Description

The Master of Education is designed to promote prepare teachers and school administrators with the knowledge and skills they need to advance their careers in leadership roles. The M.Ed program aims to prepare, develop, and produce reflective scholar-practitioners skilled in data-driven decision-making who are able to contribute to positive change in education, academic settings, and where education meets industry.

The Master of Education is an intensive, full-time program in which students are able to complete the entire program within one and a half years or three semesters. Classes are offered on Fridays and Saturdays to provide flexibility for working professionals seeking to advance their careers.

Program Objectives

Graduates of the PGDE Program are prepared to assume instructional and administrative leadership positions in K- 12 schools, as well as a variety of other educational organizations and institutions. Graduates will apply knowledge to their current positions, enhancing their professional practice, and become agents of change within schools. Specifically, the four aims of this program are as follows:

  • Prepare scholar-practitioners who engage in lifelong learning to meaningfully develop their careers in education.
  • Produce educators who apply in reflective practice to promote inclusion and diverse discourse grounded in the culture of the region.
  • Prepare scholar-practitioners who engage in data-driven decision making in order to effect meaningful, research- based positive change in academic settings.
  • Develop problem-solvers with advanced knowledge of education and specialized skills in education who contribute to overcoming challenges in education, academic settings, and at the intersection of education and industry.
