Program Description

This innovative master's course provides you with the skills to contribute to the design and development of big data systems as well as distributed / internet-enabled decision support application software systems.

We focus on modern engineering methods, tools and techniques, including data analytics, machine learning, business intelligence, data mining. You will also have the opportunity to learn programming languages such as Hadoop, Python, and R. Our software engineering approach to building applications helps you to develop a life-cycle view of software development.

Drawing on our research excellence in this area, this innovative course in big data and business intelligence is designed to give you a competitive advantage in this fast-growing business domain.

Main requirements:

  • A good first degree in computing-related subject or in a suitable numerate subject (e.g. mathematics, physics, engineering, information systems or multimedia) that includes software development experience.

Or

  • Substantial commercial/industrial experience including software development using modern programming languages and design.

Alternative English language requirements:

  • Apolytirion with grade 17 in English.
  • University of Greenwich English Language Test (OIETC): Overall grade B2+ with B2 in each skill.

  • We welcome applications from mature students and/or students with professional work backgrounds.
  • For entry: applicants with professional qualifications and/or four years of full-time work experience will be considered on an individual basis.
  • For exemption: If you hold qualifications or courses from another higher education institution, these may exempt you from courses of this degree.
  • If your English language qualification is below the standard requirements listed above, you may be eligible for our online pre-sessional English (PSE) programme.
  • If you do not currently hold an IELTS and think you might need a pre-sessional English programme to reach the required level, you can also take the University's English Language Test (UOGELT). If you do not achieve the required score for direct entry, you will be eligible to study our online pre-sessional course using your UOGELT result.
