Emergency Management and Resilience (Part-Time)

Historically a classroom-based delivery, the on-campus version of this course has been running since 2007. It enjoys an excellent reputation, with many students enrolling on the basis of professional recommendations.

This course now offers students the option to study online. It is designed to give you the knowledge, skills and competencies necessary to fulfil duties that fall upon organisations in the UK and internationally, and aims to prepare you for known and emergent risks. It aims to equip you with skills to deliver more effective responses to realised risks and threats, and plan and implement successful recovery strategies.

Graduates from associated disaster and emergency planning and management courses work in a range of organisations with emergency response duties, including:

• local government
• the uniformed services
• health and other public sector agencies
• private sector companies

Our graduates have gone on to work for organisations such as:

• the Fire and Rescue Service
• the Police
• local governments
• the Foreign and Commonwealth Office
• Red Cross UK
• the Environment Agency

The need to enhance resilience to emergencies, together with organisational duties arising from the Civil Contingencies Act continues to create a demand for qualified emergency planning and management professionals.

Our graduates have gone on to work in a range of organisations with risk management, emergency response organisational resilience duties, including local government, the uniformed services, health and other public sector agencies, as well as private sector companies and consultancy.
