The MUP + MPA coordinated degree is an opportunity for students to simultaneously earn two degrees: Master of Urban Planning (MUP) and Master of Public Administration (MPA).
Planners should understand how public agencies and other organizations are managed, including budgeting, departmental coordination, and processes for interacting with elected officials. Public administrators should understand how planners engage with community members, develop plans, and communicate long-term goals for housing, economic development, transportation, sustainability, and other dimensions of community life. Students trained in both fields have a competitive edge in the job market.
The coordinated degree requires courses in both Urban Planning and Public Administration, plus completion of a concentration within Public Administration.
