Program Description

BSc (Hons) Physical Education with QTS is a fast-track route into teaching, taking just three years to be a fully qualified teacher.

Learning through classroom experience and applying theory to your teaching practice will develop the skills you need to teach young people in education. You'll study the scientific principles of physical education and sport, with applied practical activities while developing your expertise in the classroom; all with the support of a strong partnership between the University and your placement school.

You can also choose to specialise in another STEM subject, giving you the unique ability to teach across two STEM subjects.

Notes:

Alternative English language requirements:

  • Secure English Language Test (SELT)
  • O-Level English Language or GCSE English Language: grade C or above (UK Exam board)

In addition to academic qualifications:

  • Have an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check

  • You will be assessed on your potential to learn and not your experience.
  • If you do not have the necessary level of English you may need to take one of the University's English for Academic Purposes (EAP) University Preparation Courses before you begin your course.

Careers

This degree awards Qualified Teacher Status, which means that when you graduate you’ll be qualified to teach in any state-maintained school in England and Wales. You'll qualify as a PE teacher but with the option of another STEM subject speclialism.
