Program Description

The Bachelor in Psychology (BSc) is devoted to the orientation of the students to the diverse field of psychology as a scientific discipline. The program aims to offer a complete education in the major theories and techniques of psychology, and as such gives a first approach to psychologists’ skills, an in-depth exposure to research in psychology, and a basic education in psychology specialties. Students master general theories, empirical evidence and application of knowledge in applied areas of psychology with a sense of purpose that helps improve the human condition in various settings.

The program aims to ensure that students will apply ethical standards to evaluate psychological science and practice. Furthermore, students are fully prepared to enter 2nd cycle education, having gained equivalent knowledge, skills, and competence in psychology. International guidelines were followed in the program’s design.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, the students should be able to:

  • Demonstrate familiarity with the major concepts, theoretical perspectives, empirical findings, and historical trends in psychology.
  • Understand and apply basic research methods in psychology, including research design, data analysis, and interpretation.
  • Employ critical and creative thinking, skeptical inquiry, and use the scientific approach to solve problems related to behavior and mental processes.
  • Understand and apply psychological principles to personal, social, and organizational issues.
  • Weigh evidence, tolerate ambiguity, act ethically, and reflect on other values that are the underpinnings of psychology as a discipline.
  • Demonstrate information competence and the ability to use computers and other technology for many purposes.
  • Communicate effectively in a variety of formats.
  • Recognize, understand, and respect the complexity of sociocultural and ethnic diversity.
  • Develop insight into their own and others’ behavior and mental processes and apply effective strategies for self-management and self-improvement.
  • Have realistic ideas about implementing their psychological knowledge, skills, and values in occupational pursuits in various settings.
