Program Description

Our BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing degree is accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, so you’ll be eligible to apply for registration once you graduate and kick start your career as a registered adult nurse. As part of your course, you’ll get the chance to immerse yourself in placements and build up the knowledge and skills to deliver patient care.

Alternative English language requirements:

  • Our preferred tests are IELTS, TOEFL iBT (80 overall and a minimum of 17 in Writing and Listening, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking) and Pearson PTE ( 57 overall and a minimum of 51 in all components), so we recommend you take one of these if possible. We also recognise the following qualifications/tests:
  1. Trinity College: Integrated Skills in English (ISE)
  2. LanguageCert International ESOL SELT tests
  3. International English Language Competency Assessment (IELCA)

Important Information:

  • To receive an offer of a place on this course you must be successful at interview.
  • An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure will be required.
  • A satisfactory Occupational Health clearance will be required.
  • All applicants to Nursing programmes holding the Access to Higher Education qualification will also require Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy unless you already hold GCSE grade C in Maths and English.
  • If you don't meet our English language requirements, we offer a range of courses which could help you achieve the level required for entry. We also provide our own English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT) in the UK and overseas.
  • If you've completed study at university level in the UK or your home country you may be eligible to enter directly into Year 2 or 3 of a related degree course at ARU.

Careers

As a registered nurse you’ll have the choice of a wide range of roles:

  • become a community professional and work in patients’ homes, clinic, GP surgeries or nursing homes
  • work as a nursing specialist or consultant within a hospital
  • take your education further still, conduct research or go into healthcare management

Our adult nursing course is approved by the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), meaning you’ll be eligible to apply for registration with them when you graduate.
