Program Description

Graduates of the Associate Degree in Dental Assisting will be fully prepared to take the required written and clinical licensing exams. DVC is extremely proud of its 100% pass rate on the National and Regional Dental Hygiene Board examinations.

With your Associate Degree in Dental Assisting, you will be able to Assume responsibility for disease transmission prevention in the workplace by using universal precautions to protect those entrusted to their care, apply critical thinking and self-assessment skills to enhance learning, research, patient care, professional growth, and continued competency, and Integrate and apply culturally competent communication skills and health literacy to oral health care services, academic endeavors, community projects, and professional activities.

After finishing the two-year program, you can transfer to a public or private university to pursue a degree.

  • Show competence in skills as described in the current California dental practice act. Said professionals should perform with a balance of professionalism and sensitivity characteristic of genuine compassionate care.
  • Exhibit knowledge necessary for successful completion of the California registered dental assistant’s examination and the national certified dental assistant’s examination.
