Program Description

Our BA (Hons) Illustration and Animation course explores the connections between illustration and animation, helping you to create sequential narratives using a variety of methods – from observational drawing and traditional handmade image-making, to the latest specialist digital animation software and cutting-edge interactive techniques.

You’ll become an experienced creator of innovative, engaging visual content with training in both traditional processes and the latest digital technologies. Perhaps most importantly, you’ll get time, guidance and support from a team of illustrators, animators and visiting professionals who are dedicated to your creative development.

Alternative English language requirements:

Our preferred tests are IELTS, TOEFL iBT (80 overall and a minimum of 17 in Writing and Listening, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking) and Pearson PTE ( 57 overall and a minimum of 51 in all components), so we recommend you take one of these if possible. We also recognise the following qualifications/tests:

Important Information:

You will be asked to provide a digital portfolio for review and will be given the option to book a meeting to discuss it.
You may also be accepted to this course with an IELTS 5.5 (with no individual score being lower than 5.5) or equivalent, but will then be required to undertake additional compulsory free English language modules in your first year.
International Baccalaureate Diploma must include a related subject.
If you don't meet our English language requirements, we offer a range of courses which could help you achieve the level required for entry. We also provide our own English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT) in the UK and overseas.
If you've completed study at university level in the UK or your home country you may be eligible to enter directly into Year 2 or 3 of a related degree course at ARU.
