Program Description

For those interested in a hybrid degree, encompassing all the best of what the School of Communication and the Arts has to offer, the Bachelor in Theatre and Communication Arts (BA) at Gannon University (Erie) is the perfect choice.

During this program, students can gain transferable skills in digital design production, theatrical design, screen and stage performance, theatre management, cultural studies in media and the arts, along with practicums and internships, on and off campus, to apply the skills and learning experiences from the classroom in professional settings with regional professional arts organizations and media outlets, television network affiliates, and advertising/public relations/website design and promotion creators.

Students of the Bachelor in Theatre and Communication Arts (BA) can choose one of three flexible track options: the Theatre Communication track, the Performance track or the Design/Technical track.

Learning Outcomes

The student will:

  • be able to thoroughly research and write an extended form analytical paper.
  • be able to research, write, and deliver a sustained-form business presentation using appropriate rhetorical strategies and technology.
  • demonstrate and understanding of and participation in the patterns of scholarly and productive discussion using both interpersonal and professional skills.
  • will design, organize, rehearse, and perform dramatic/or non-dramatic script material.
  • will be able to identify and participate in the pre-production, production and post- production processes of theatre and the digital media.
  • identify and critically describe the historical context of the media and/or the theatre
  • recognize the need for adaptability/resilience in the theatre and the electronic arts, and be able to collaborate with faculty, peers, and technology to produce quality theatrical and digital projects.
  • recognize the relationship between the work of the School of Communication and the Arts programs and the mission of Gannon University.
