Program Description

The bachelor in Film and Animation (BA) was created to prepare artists and professionals in the field of audiovisual creations, in particular in the branch of cinema, in both live-action productions and animations, and in all the traditional, contemporary, and future applications including their hybrid products.

The dynamic nature of this industry and of new technologies assumes the outlining, even in the short term, of new professional roles, and the bachelor in Film and Animation (BA) lays the foundations to keep up with these changes.

Curriculum

Year 1

It introduces students to the basic tools to approach audio-visual and animation. Students learn the skills necessary to undertake film projects, documentaries, tv and web series, and video content for web and communication.

Guided by lecturers with great didactic and professional experience, students deal with theoretical, project-based, and lab courses in the history of cinema and video, multimedia dramaturgy, storytelling and screenwriting, linear audiovisuals, camera operation techniques, sociology of new media, sound design, languages of contemporary art, basics of animation.

Year 2

Guides students towards further improvement in the field by choosing one of the program specializations (Filmmaking or Animation) and through specializing studies in direction, creative writing, the direction of photography, interactive storytelling, visual effects, and 2D-3D animation.

Led by lecturers through practical experiences, students learn how to develop complete projects in the different fields of application, from the concept to the economic, physical, and time boundaries, and the requests of the client.

Year 3

It defines students' knowledge and skills and provides the opportunity to independently and professionally manage the complete creative process for audio-visual - fiction or documentary - or animation projects, with regard to the contemporary professional context of production and distribution.

By the end of the program, students develop a personal method and language through specializing courses in direction, media production, multimedia design, copyright, and didactic activities related to the thesis project, in its theoretical and project-based components.
