Program Description

Our BA (Hons) Drama and English Literature degree lets you weight your studies to your own interests and career goals. Prepare for a career in the arts or fields such as teaching - and get ready to change the way others see the world. You’ll work on public-productions and smaller-scale projects, exploring drama practices and texts from the 20th century onwards as well as working on original pieces. Alongside this, you’ll explore many other subjects including history, politics, philosophy and religion as well as developing your literacy and communication skills.

Alternative English language requirements:

  • Our preferred tests are IELTS, TOEFL iBT (80 overall and a minimum of 17 in Writing and Listening, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking) and Pearson PTE ( 57 overall and a minimum of 51 in all components), so we recommend you take one of these if possible. We also recognise the following qualifications/tests:
  1. Trinity College: Integrated Skills in English (ISE)
  2. LanguageCert International ESOL SELT tests
  3. International English Language Competency Assessment (IELCA)

Important Information:

  • International Baccalaureate Diploma must include a related subject.
  • You may also be accepted to this course with an IELTS 5.5 (with no individual score being lower than 5.5) or equivalent, but will then be required to undertake additional compulsory free English language modules in your first year.
  • If you don't meet our English language requirements, we offer a range of courses which could help you achieve the level required for entry. We also provide our own English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT) in the UK and overseas.
  • If you've completed study at university level in the UK or your home country you may be eligible to enter directly into Year 2 or 3 of a related degree course at ARU.
