Program Description

The Bachelor in Environmental Science (BSc) program at Gannon University provides ample hands-on field experiences that take learning outside the classroom. Students can make a difference for our environment and protect human health by identifying environmental problems through research and data collection.

Learners will be able to apply natural sciences to understand human impacts on the environment and gain hands-on experience with field sampling and analytical instruments used by environmental professionals. They will also identify and evaluate environmental problems and develop solutions to remediate and sustain environmental systems.

During the Bachelor in Environmental Science (BSc) program, students will collaborate with real-world agencies and organizations on research, internships and project opportunities.

Learning Outcomes

Students will:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of and application of math and the natural sciences in order to understand human impacts on the natural and built environment.
  • Gain the practical skills necessary in the environmental field including laboratory and field instrumentation, computer software, and sampling and analytical techniques.
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify and evaluate environmental problems and to develop solutions to remediate and sustain environmental systems.
  • Be able to implement scientific research strategies, including collection, management, evaluation, and interpretation of environmental data.
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills specific to the audience and circumstance.
