Program Description

The Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering (BEng) at University of Hull gives students the skills to unlock solutions that make people’s lives better. From manufacturing and the medical sector, to the automotive, aerospace and construction industry.

100% of students in work or further study 15 months after graduating

From day one, students are treated as a trainee engineer. The modules they study encourage project-based learning. And they will also get the chance to plan, build and test their own prototypes.

In the first year of the Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering (BEng), students gain the core theoretical and practical skills they need throughout their time there and beyond. CAD, programming and control and thermo fluids are just a few of the areas they will cover. The mathematics module is specifically geared towards engineering applications. They will also take part in Global Challenge, where they will work in a team to tackle a design and build project.

Future Prospects

Mechanical engineers are involved in almost everything we use. From nanotechnology to healthcare equipment to planes, windfarms and even spacecraft. Students' transferable skills will open up careers across a range of industries. And with a national shortage of engineers, they're likely to be in high demand. Graduates have gone on to work with BAE Systems, British Energy, the Royal Navy, Williams F1, Rolls-Royce, and more.
