Program Description

The Foundation in Science, Computing, Engineering and Mathematics course at Newcastle University provides a route into a range of science and engineering subjects. Students will explore key concepts in mathematics for the physical sciences and engineering.

During this program, practical learning supplements theoretical studies. This includes field trips and laboratory work where students will gain hands-on experience. This course is suitable for those who need to improve their English language study skills within the context of science and engineering or want to increase their subject knowledge of science and engineering.

Students will expand their skills and knowledge by covering topics such as core methods of calculus, differentiation and integration, algebra, geometry and numerical methods. In addition, they will cover specialist modules in chemistry, physics or computing. They will also learn how to research, analyse and present their work effectively.

Successful completion of this course will lead to the International Foundation Certificate (RQF Level 3).

Newcastle University is ranked top 125 for Computing Science (Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2022).
