The first part of year 2 will still be focused on the topics relevant to both software engineers and business informatics professionals, such as architectures of software, higher concepts for good design for analysing large amounts of data, and for providing security of data and systems. At the end of that semester, you’ll choose between Software Engineering and Business Informatics for semester 4.
The Software Engineering direction will introduce you to a broader set of different types of software systems and programming languages. The Business Informatics side will teach you about business processes, how to describe and design them, and techniques and architectures of systems specifically for the support of decision-making. In both variants, you’ll develop an app (realizing your own ideas for that app) with a cloud-based architecture, this being the project of semester 4.
