Advanced Diploma σε Island Pre-Health Science - NIC

Eligibility to Canada’s Post Graduation Work Permit allows students to have an open work permit and work in Canada for 1 - 3 years after graduation.

Under the British Columbia Council of Admission and Transfer (BCCAT), NIC students have pathways to universities across British Columbia.

Universities with a Guaranteed Admission Agreement or a Dual Admission Agreement:

• University of Victoria
• Emily Carr University of Arts and Design
• University of Northern British Columbia
• Vancouver Island University
• Other universities in British Columbia that accept NIC students
• University of British Columbia
• Simon Fraser University
• Thompson Rivers University
• Capilano University

Students may also transfer to universities in other provinces with prior planning.

NIC is currently building an on-campus residence which will be available in 2025. NIC campuses are among the residential areas of the community, making off-campus accommodation accessible to students.

• to provide the foundational ideas, theories and concepts needed to pursue further studies in medicine and/or the health sciences;
• to understand and analyse the socio-economic, cultural and historical factors impacting healthcare provision on north Vancouver Island and in similar rural areas;
• through the application of place-based learning strategies and Indigenous ways of knowing and methodologies, prepare students for working and living in rural, remote communities, and;
• to deliver an accessible, regional pathway into medical school and other health science degree programs for prospective students hailing from rural, island communities or wanting to relocate and work in said areas.
