As well as practical exercises, which should enable you to put theory into practice, we will draw on real-life studies to examine business strategy in action. Wherever possible, we also consider relevant financial issues making headlines throughout the world, discussing controversial issues in corporate finance to try to encourage you to develop a questioning and critical approach.

All modules are mandatory. Please note that the semester structures listed for semesters 1 and 2 are indicative only. Modules may be delivered in either semester 1 or 2 depending on resourcing requirements and which cohort a student is enrolled upon.

In Semester Three, you also have the opportunity to undertake a company internship as your final project and we will support you in finding a suitable placement (subject to availability, competitive application, meeting any applicable visa requirements and additional fees may apply). For example, in the past, one of our previous students undertook an internship with the Holiday Inn in Coventry, engaging in various departments within the company to try to gain an insight into business practice and analysing financial and operational data to explore a new business strategy.

In your final semester, you will also have the opportunity to study a module developed in partnership with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), Global Professional Development - Consultancywhich, upon successful completion, can lead to a professional qualification upon successful completion, can lead to a professional qualification.

Coventry University’s partnership with CMI is currently ongoing for the relevant modules, but is frequently reviewed and monitored by the CMI through their quality systems. Whilst Coventry University hopes and anticipates that these reviews will continue to be successful, if they were to be unsuccessful, this relevant module in this course would no longer be accredited and we would notify applicants and students as soon as possible.

It can be useful for all types of personal and professional financial management, and on successful completion of the course it could become the catalyst for some students to pursue future careers in financial services as:
