London Metropolitan University has a long history, with strong educational roots reaching back to 1848. The University as it exists now was formed in 2002 by the combination of London Guildhall University and the University of North London, the first merger of two universities in the UK. However, its origins may be traced back to 1848, when the Metropolitan Evening Classes for Young Men were established.
