You will have input from professional writers teaching on the course, who include the novelist Amanda Smyth, the playwright Alan Pollock and the YA fiction writer Lauren James, along with specialists in the publishing and media industries and the opportunity to meet and network with working writers and writing organisations. We have guest lectures and network events with Writing West Midlands.
You will be able to write across a range of contemporary and emerging forms and genres, and you will leave with a portfolio of assessed work in industry-ready format.
Placements are not normally available on the 1 year MA; however, the Employment Placement Tutor would be able to assist you to apply for related part-time and volunteering work.
Where our graduates work: Students on this course have secured jobs in the publication and media industries. One ex-student became a Head of English at Access Creative College, others are teaching (including at university-level) and a number of our students have secured book publishing deals.
